Super-post:  I am combining this week’s contribution to the That’s A Look! files with a submission of retrospective images of my soon-to-be husband, Jimmie R. Martin.  About this time next week we will be amidst our global friends in a ceremony to unite us for eternity.

And I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to post this priceless image:

Tinker, a well known staple of the Internationally renowned Reno Housewives Themed-Camp readies and primps to perform entroupe as bridesmaids at another Black Rock City wedding.  A stunning example of Haute Couture collision in the high desert.

Jimmie, a.k.a. “Tink”, was one of the original founders of the Sierra Safari Zoo in Reno.  We host, and are privileged care givers to over 150 guests, who are our extended family through good and challenging times.  Jimmie is an astute and dedicated papa, whose heart is as big as the universe. He’s an amazing man,  Lo amo caro!

We have a great community of human and non-human members – at the zoo AND out on the playa!

This year our campmates get to be “our” bridesmaids!  But, we’re still ready and raring to maid-it for all the other happy couples out there.  We love making processions through the dust, or is that we love making dust through processions!! :-)

At the end of September we head off to Washington, DC for our legal wedding, but the important one will be here at home camping out amongst our spiritual siblings, and enjoying the joy.

I present my love and life-mate, Jimmie:

More current photos will follow! See you when we get back.

Arrivederla!!!!

Are you going to Burning Man?

As you drive through the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation, Look for Comfort & Joy’s bright Day-Glo flags decorating Taco Stands in Nixon & Wadsworth to easily find drop-off points for Food Donations… and amazing fresh Tacos.

On your way home from the Burn, Donate your leftover non-perishable camp food to local Paiute tribal charities helping foster children & victims of domestic violence.

FLAG/FOOD DRIVE DROPOFF LOCATIONS: Find the Flags!

(1) Nixon: Bunny’s Tacos
Serving Frybread / Veggie Tacos
Downtown Nixon – Approx 60 miles south of Gerlach
(Also be sure to visit the Tribal Mueseum in Nixon)

(2) Wadsworth: Elaine’s Stop
Serving Indian Tacos / Frybread / Taco Salad

Be sure to support the tribe by buying gas & stopping for a Taco – they’re delicious!

You can also donate unwanted Bikes to tribal charities at these licensed food vendors. All food + bike donations are collected directly by tribal members & benefit local people in need.

This is the rendering of the Temple of Transition for this year. It is amazing conceptually, and by all accounts, will be a remarkable temporary structure.

Last week, Tink and I had dinner at Zagol, the only Ethiopian establishment in Reno where we met together with Lauren our wedding officiant, and Lee Ann my Best Man. Slow as we are in wrapping our brains around this event, it is beginning to congeal a bit and I do think we are making some progress. Yay! as there isn’t much time left.

After dinner we walked over to the warehouse where the bulk of the construction crew is busy assembling the components for the edifice and wow! what impressive organizing! The stained glass chandeliers, the gargoyles, the smells and sounds of sawdust and labor were redolent and intoxicating.

We learned that of the five satellite smaller temples, the topmost on the planview will be the “Temple of Union”. Which is where Tink, Lauren, and myself decided would be the location of our wedding. Yip!!

4:00pm, Friday September 2nd! And you are very welcome to join us!

The crew who were present during our visit were so warm and sweet, giving us the grand tour and showing us around the massive space, and even directing us upside to the loft where the scale model was on display. Loved it, and what an honor!

Time is ticking, and in 27 days we’ll be on our way. Yikes!

Update P.S. – Forgot to mention that our camp was place a week or so ago and we’ll be right on the 9:00 Blvd @ G {Graduation} Street. Come on by and say Hey!

Countdown

36 Days until he burns.

We are back from the playa!  We had a wonderful burn this year, and what an exceptional group of campmates this year.  Fantastic real estate too, right on the corner of 9:00 & G streets directly across from “Distrikt” Day-Rave!  We almost never had to leave home, as the party came to us daily!
But for a brief chilly rain on Monday, the weather was outstanding all week long. It couldn’t have been more perfect.  We reconnected with all of our wonderful n playful playa friends, and even served as bridesmaids on Friday for a beautiful wedding.  Congratulations again, Lisa and AstroPop!!

For the next two weeks I’ll be offline as we’ll be out in the desert for the Burning Man Festival.  I will see you on the other-side!

Post Artown, I’ve been busy busy with preps and the reconstruction of my Vardo – sort of a glorified wagon for carting out our camps’ bikes & sundry gear…  We are collectively known as the Reno Housewives, and this year we number 18, so between all of our gear, we needed a trailer just to cart out our bikes for the lot of us. Look for us at 9:00 and G streets!

Here are a few snaps – still under construction – of “Nata” Vardo 2.0.  She needed a lot of re-build after last year’s adventures:

Still have a lot more to do, but the roof is back on and I’m feeling excited, so I thought I’d share while I still have some energy.

Off to pack, pack, pack!!!

See you after 09.10.10,
