Shpongle (pronounced Shpongle) is a psychedelic downtempo or Psybient music project. The members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project). Their sound has sampled eastern ethnic instruments and western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements.
Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful, timeless contribution to sonic exploration. Rab is a master of manipulating our temporal awareness, leading us into seemingly ancient worlds, where to our amazement, we find visible shreds of the future. Allow his sound to catalyze your travels into haunting ecstasy, and you will not return to your same beginning. Playing only his own originally produced music live, the depth and craftsmanship of this offering is remarkable. With an array of drum machines, samplers, sequencers, and instruments, it is a clear devotion to expression and perfection.
I ran across a couple of videos posted by Nichelle Strzepek of Dance Advantage over on Vimeo. And thought I’d would share this one about “Toe-Sit-ups” as we’ve been talking about foot strengthening and relevés.
Another very cool find is this book: A choreographer’s Handbook, that I picked up at Borders:
:: Enjoy!
There’s something very arresting about this montage.

Dance Anatomy is a fantastic, and well-organized book, which will assist you in discovering more efficient ways of improving your technique; provide insight into your muscle movements, and therefore enhance their performance.
Written by Jacqui Green Haas, director of Dance Medicine Academic Seminars, and is also the Director of the Dance Medicine Division of Wellington Orthopedics in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Highly recommended to all students of dance!!

Natacha Atlas and Basha Beats “Rise to Freedom” Remix
Natacha Atlas and Basha Beats- Egypt – Rise to Freedom by SixDegreesRecords
Translation:
Mubarak : “My fellow citizens.. A fine line lies between freedom… and chaos.”
Natacha :
Let us stand together and awaken ,
Let us question, learn and study;
Listen, understand and think.
Let us understand,
Permit us to know-
Permit us to know freedom.
Let us know there is a land
where words are the purveyors of truth,
heads are held high,
And human will is regarded above all.
Where the world is not split into a thousand fragments,
Under siege, forgotten, or lost -
Let us perceive of it,
Let us know that place.
Let us know our land,
where words are the purveyors of truth.

This quote crossed my path today while scanning subscription pages, and I thought – Right on!
“Dance is not about your “hot” moves. It’s about the authenticity of emotions while doing those moves. As performers we must all be able to elicit a response from our audience that goes beyond the surfactant cheers of “excitement.” Make them cry or laugh. Make them angry. Make them think. Stop seeking the approval of your audience & start sending a message! Think Smart”
